How to Create a PayPal App and Get Your App ID for Gigbuilder

Creating a PayPal app is the first step to accepting client payments through PayPal in Gigbuilder. Follow these five steps to get your app ID set up.

Step 1: Log in to PayPal Developer

Step 2: Create an Application

  • Go to Apps & Credentials
  • Click Create App
  • Give your app a name (e.g., “Gigbuilder Client Payments”)
  • Select the Merchant onboarding reason (for payments)

Step 3: Get Your Credentials

Once created, you’ll see your app listed:

  • Click on your app to view details
  • Look for these credentials:
    • Client ID — This is your primary credential
    • Secret — Keep this secure
    • These will be needed in Gigbuilder

Step 4: Configure in Gigbuilder

  • Return to Gigbuilder
  • Go to Setup > Gigbuilder Setup > Merchant Services
  • Paste your PayPal Client ID into the PayPal configuration
  • Set PayPal as your Default Merchant
  • Ensure Client Login Payments is set to “Yes - Display”
  • Save your changes

Step 5: Test

  • Log in as a client
  • You should now see PayPal as a payment option
