Issue
When using Authorize.net as your payment processor in Gigbuilder, clients may see a “client key required” error message when attempting to make payments through the client portal. This error occurs when your Authorize.net setup is missing the Public Client Key credential.
Solution
You need to collect three credentials from your Authorize.net account and install them in Gigbuilder. Follow our step-by-step guide:
How to Find Your Authorize.net API Credentials
The three credentials you need are:
- API Login ID — identifies your account
- Transaction Key — authenticates your payments
- Public Client Key — secures payment forms (this was the missing piece causing the error)
Once you have all three, log into Gigbuilder and enter them under Settings → Merchant Services → Payment Processor, then save your changes.
Still Having Issues?
If the error persists after installing the Public Client Key, please contact support.
